Dr. Hijab heads a delegation from the High Negotiation Committee to meet a number of world leaders and officials in New YorkDate Posted: 17 September 2017
A delegation from the High Negotiation Committee headed by Dr. Riad Hijab, the General Coordinator of the committee, will head to New York City on Saturday, September 16, 2017, where he will meet with a number of heads of state and foreign ministers of friendly countries as well as participating in a number of multilateral meetings on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.
The delegation aims to convey the demands of the Syrian people and to affirm the constants of the revolution and to highlight the suffering of the Syrians in one of the most important international platforms established to achieve peace and justice for the peoples of the world.
The meeting of the United Nations General Assembly is an international multilateral forum in which all international issues in the charter of the United Nations are discussed. The United Nations General Assembly is the principal representative body for discussions and deliberations in the United Nations, and consists of all 193 members of the United Nations.
Given the overlap of international agendas and the linkage between the violations committed against the Syrian people and United Nations conventions and Security Council resolutions, the planned meetings are of great importance to remind the international community that these decisions must be respected and that those who violate them should be held accountable and punished.
